The journey began in the 1920s with Late Captain Dr. C. K. Srinivasan, who served in the Second World War and later established his practice in Coimbatore after his military service. He was one of the first three doctors of modern medicine in Coimbatore district, renowned for his selfless service. He never demanded money from his patients, instead, he placed a cash box outside his clinic where patients could leave money if they could afford it. This unique approach not only built his reputation but also ensured that anyone in need could access healthcare.

His son, Dr. C. S. Ragoothaman, affectionately known as CSR, continued this noble profession in Anthiyur, a remote village near Erode, for 50 years. He was a “Star Doctor,” having conducted nearly 50,000 normal deliveries and treated over 10 million patients.
