Dr. C.S.R. Kumar MBBS, MS, FAGES

Dr. C.S.R. Kumar, a renowned surgeon based in Coimbatore, has over three decades of experience in general surgery, laparoscopy, and gynaecology. His expertise spans across four districts: Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, and Palakkad. Known for his accurate diagnoses, perfect treatment plans, and skillful surgeries, Dr. Kumar is highly sought after in the western region of Tamil Nadu. He is also known for his magnanimous heart, offering considerate care to the deserving and needy.

Early Career

Born in 1962 to Dr. C. S. Ragoothaman and Mrs. Saroja, Dr. Kumar pursued his medical training at Coimbatore Medical College and Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. After his post-graduation, he served at his father’s nursing home in Anthiyur, performing close to 50,000 surgeries. 

Establishing His Own Practice

In 1993, Dr. Kumar moved to Coimbatore and started his practice with a 10-bed nursing home. Over five years, it expanded to a 35-bed unit, catering predominantly to lower-middle-class and poor patients. By 1998, CSR Nursing Home had evolved into a modern facility with a twin OT complex and a medical-surgical ICU.

Mastering the Skills

Dr. Kumar trained in both village and corporate settings, gaining a comprehensive skill set. He was one of the first laparoscopic surgeons in Coimbatore, making this advanced technique accessible to all community segments.

Catering to the Needy

Dr. Kumar has conducted nearly 500 surgical camps, treating around 25,000 poor patients at nominal charges, often free of cost.

As a Mentor

Dr. Kumar has trained approximately 30 surgeons and gynaecologists, sharing his rich surgical experience. He is an expert in curing various ailments, including hernia, haemorrhoids, gallstones, appendicitis, and more. He has also performed over 16,000 gynaecological surgeries and numerous emergency procedures. 

Other Ambitious Explorations

A dynamic individual, Dr. Kumar has explored industries like agriculture, textiles, and share marketing. His most ambitious project was an attempt to open a medical college in Palakkad, Kerala.
